Internal Systems Family Therapy

I.F.S is based on the principal that there is an undamaged resourceful Self at the core of every person.

Our minds contain various parts or sub- personalities which are distinct aspects of our personality. These parts can be protective, wounded or extreme in their emotions. Examples are Inner Critic, Inner child and manager parts. Some parts carry emotional wounds from our past experiences. When these wounded parts are triggered, other parts step in to protect and manage the emotional distress , using coping mechanisms like anger and addiction self harm to distract from the pain.

The Therapist helps the client access their Self and safely explore the parts and work towards a healing process
